Tongren consensus of the 11th China-ASEAN Education Exchange week "Belt and Road" University General Education Forum
We, 328 representatives from 54 schools and related institutions from 14 countries and regions, met in Tongren, Guizhou, China, on May 17-18, 2018. To participate in the activities of the 11th China-ASEAN Education Exchange week 'Belt and Road' University General Education Forum with the theme of "Classical inheritance and Innovation".
We note that under the initiative of "Belt and Road", countries and regions along the route are building a community of destinies, with more extensive contacts, closer cooperation and more frequent exchanges. Among them, exchanges and cooperation in the field of education show broad prospects for development. We need to establish long-term, stable and sustainable friendly relations, expand mutual educational cooperation and exchange, promote the flow of talent and knowledge, and enhance the educational integration. This is a great opportunity for us to integrate and serve Belt and Road.
How to further base on reality and promote the reform and development of general education in universities is an overall challenge to the reform of the idea of running a school, the structure of administration, the mode of development and the mode of personnel training in colleges and universities.
What the university general education maintains is the essence of higher education and the mission of the university. It aims to develop the rational, mental and emotional virtues of human beings, fully explore the potential of human beings, develop their core qualities, and pay close attention to the value and significance of human life.
